2016 has been the best year in my life so far. I’ve met so many wonderful people, had a lot of new experiences and most importantly have learned and grown so much as an individual. Here’s a recap of some of the wonderful things I’ve been through this year.
At the start of the year, the top priority was trying to figure out what I would be doing for my pre-university program. The first few months were pretty occupied with scholarship applications and the hassle that comes with it. Filling in personal details and writing essays about various topics and attending interviews was what I was mostly doing half the time.
*and spending time with this lovely people
The other half of my time was spent volunteering with Malaysia Youth For Christ which is a Christian NGO. There, I learned a lot about the youth ministry and what it’s like to do volunteer work. Though I can’t foreseeably see myself doing full-time volunteer work in the future, I’ve learned a lot from the Bible studies, event planning and working with teenagers from my time there.
In March, I received my SPM results and thankfully God blessed my efforts with 8A plusses and 3As. I was really happy with it and even happier that my postย The Secret Behind My SPM Success and How You Can Do It Too!ย has been able to help inspire so many others.
I also started blogging in the first few months of 2016 as I started to grow and do things which were slightly out of my comfort zone. But, I’m loving it now and it’s totally one of my favourite things to do now ๐
After receiving news of my scholarship to do the IB program at St Joseph, what I did for the next few months leading up to June was to start preparing myself mentally and start studying at least a little since I had not been doing so since the past year.
Then, somewhere in July, I went to the Philippines with a great group of people who I now live with at the hostel and I am truly blessed to able to get to know them and to spend at least the next 2 years of my life with some of them. I also met a great group of friends there in the Philippines. Shout out to you guys if you’re reading this. Hope to see you guys and girls soon ๐
I also learned a lot from the trip about what it means to beย a Lasallian and I’m well on my way in my life-long journey to practice the core values of Faith, Service, and Community.
After I got back from the Philippines, the remaining time was mostly spent on half-preparing for IB and half-chilling before I left and could not enjoy the simple pleasures of leisure time once IB started. I had a nice little memorable trip to KL and Penang at about this time ๐
Since then, I’ve started studying in St Joseph and there has been a great number of new experiences that I’ve been able to gain and also take part in some awesome events such as the school’s first ever Christmas recital.
All in all, I’m really grateful for everything I’ve gone through this year. It’s definitely been the best year of my life yet but I’m sure I’ll work really hard to make 2017 even better.
I would just really like to thank all of you who have been supporting me for the past year and I would like to wish you all a Happy New Year in advance. Have a wonderful 2017!!!
